Good Deeds, Great Reads

The Highland Branch Library celebrated the launch of its Good Deeds Book Vending Machine on April 16, 2026, continuing the expansion of the San Bernardino County Library’s innovative literacy initiative.

Through the program, children are rewarded for positive participation in library programs with opportunities to select a free book to keep. The experience makes reading and book ownership fun while helping young readers build their own home libraries.

By celebrating good deeds with good reads, the program encourages positive behavior, literacy and a lasting love of books and learning.
