Join the San Bernardino County Library for an unforgettable evening of exploration, discovery, and stargazing at Galaxy Nights: Guardians of the Sky.
This free, family-friendly event invites visitors of all ages to experience the wonders of nature and the night sky through interactive exhibits, live animal encounters, hands-on activities, and guided astronomy experiences. From butterflies and bats to constellations and stars, Galaxy Nights celebrates the incredible connections between life on Earth and the universe beyond.
Experience Butterflies Up Close
Begin your journey with a live, interactive butterfly experience presented by Flutterby Ranch.
From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., guests will have the rare opportunity to observe and engage with these remarkable pollinators while learning about their importance to local ecosystems and conservation efforts around the world.
This hands-on experience offers a unique look at the delicate beauty and vital role butterflies play in maintaining healthy environments.
Discover the Guardians of Our Ecosystems
Throughout the evening, community partners will share fascinating insights into conservation, biodiversity, and habitat protection.
Representatives from the Sierra Club San Gorgonio Chapter and the SoCal Bat Working Group will be on-site with interactive displays and educational activities highlighting the importance of protecting native wildlife and natural habitats.
Learn why bats are among nature’s most valuable—and misunderstood—species and how conservation efforts help preserve the delicate balance of our ecosystems.
Explore the Night Sky
As the sun sets, the adventure continues beneath the stars. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in guided stargazing experiences and learn about the celestial wonders visible in the spring sky.
Featured Constellation: Leo
Known as the “Lion of Spring,” Leo is one of the season’s most recognizable constellations. Its distinctive sickle-shaped pattern, resembling a backward question mark, makes it easy to spot, while the bright star Regulus shines at its heart. Discover the stories, science, and significance behind this iconic constellation as you explore the night sky through guided observation.

Galaxy Nights features a variety of conservation-themed crafts and interactive activities designed to inspire creativity, curiosity, and environmental stewardship.
