Good Deeds, Great Reads

The Hesperia Branch Library celebrated the launch of its Good Deeds Book Vending Machine on April 21, 2026, bringing the San Bernardino County Library’s innovative literacy initiative to the High Desert community.

Through the program, children are rewarded for positive participation in library programs with opportunities to select a free book to keep. Each book helps young readers build their own personal collections while making reading and book ownership an exciting and rewarding experience.

By turning positive participation into opportunities for book ownership, the program encourages children to read, discover and build a lifelong connection with their library.
