About Us
The Read, Write & Cruise Car Show is a San Bernardino County Library signature community event that brings together literacy, local history, automotive culture and family fun.
Launched in 2026 at the Hesperia Branch Library in celebration of the 100th anniversary of historic Route 66, the event uses the excitement of classic cars and America’s Mother Road to create new opportunities for families to connect with the Library, discover its resources and celebrate the power of stories.
At Read, Write & Cruise, every vehicle has a story to tell. From the history behind a restored classic to the memories made along Route 66, the event demonstrates that storytelling and learning can take many forms. By pairing an engaging car show experience with library resources, literacy activities and opportunities to explore books and reading, SBCL encourages visitors of all ages to discover new interests and continue their own learning journeys.
The event also features live entertainment, family-friendly activities, food vendors, community partners and interactive experiences, creating a welcoming environment where generations can come together to read, learn, explore and connect.
