The San Bernardino County Library’s Book Vending Machines make reading even more exciting by putting free books directly into the hands of young readers. Each book opens the door to new stories, bigger imaginations and endless possibilities — and best of all, the book is theirs to keep!

How It Works

Children can earn a gold book token by participating in eligible library programs, activities and challenges. Once they earn a token, they can visit a Book Vending Machine, make their selection and take home a free book to keep.

Ways to Earn a Book Token

Children may earn tokens by:

• Attending and participating in eligible library programs
• Demonstrating positive library behavior, including kindness, respect and helping others
• Participating in special seasonal activities and library challenges

Book tokens are earned through participation and cannot be purchased. Opportunities to earn tokens may vary by library location and program, so check with your local library staff to learn about current challenges and upcoming opportunities.
